The Lead Toddler Teacher is responsible for creating a warm, loving, nurturing, and engaging environment for children ages 12mths.–2 years old. This position ensures a safe, , developmentally appropriate classroom that can support with patience social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth. The Lead Teacher sets the tone for the classroom and serves as a role model and mentor for assistant teachers and support staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum & Planning
- Develop and implement weekly lesson plans that align with our curriculum & early childhood learning standards through program Teaching Strategies.
- Create hands-on, sensory-rich activities that promote exploration and independence.
- Support emerging language, motor, and self-help skills through daily routines & play.
- Classroom Environment
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom that promotes creativity and curiosity.
- Ensure all materials and equipment are in good condition and are age-appropriate.
- Child Development & Care
- Foster positive, trusting relationships with each child.
- Observe, assess, and document children’s developmental progress.
- Guide children through transitions and support toilet training when applicable.
- Family Engagement
- Build strong connections with families through daily reports, conferences, & updates.
- Share developmental milestones and strategies for continued learning at home.
- Encourage family involvement in school events.
- Team Collaboration
- Supervise, coach, and support assistant teachers and classroom aides.
- Participate in monthly team meetings, trainings, and center events.
- Maintain positive, professional relationships with staff and leadership.
- Health & Safety
- Follow all state childcare licensing regulations and Kiddie Academy policies.
- Maintain accurate attendance, incident, and medication logs.
- Practice consistent hygiene and safety routines with children.
Qualifications
- Minimum 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or higher in Early Childhood Education preferred, but not required.
- CDA credential strongly preferred (or willingness to obtain) but also not required.
- At least 2 years of experience working with children.
- Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or to obtain within 90 days), we can help if necessary.
Schedule & Compensation
- Full-time, Monday–Friday.
- Competitive pay based on education and experience.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.50 - $20.00 per hour
