POSITION SUMMARY:

The Lead Teacher, under the direction of the Program Director, is a team member, who will plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that support and encourage the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical needs of all students in the classroom. Our education philosophy is to ensure a safe, warm and welcoming environment, while following the required policies and procedures. Responsibilities include student assessments, creating individualized plans, facilitating family engagement, and overseeing an Assistant Teacher, who aids in the execution of classroom activities. Responsibilities also include communicating effectively with the parents/guardians by keeping them up to date on their children’s development and progress and providing a nurturing and caring environment for the children.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Implement and design daily activities within the established guidelines
  • Care for and supervise children, Assistant Teachers and all classroom activities.
  • Maintain all records including attendance, incident reports, daily logs, as required by SSCC and OCFS.
  • Maintain classroom equipment to ensure a healthy and safe classroom environment.
  • Model and enforce appropriate positive behavior management techniques as established by the policies of the center.
  • Participate in required training and workshops to continue to enhance professional growth (NYS OCFS Regulations of 30 hours every 2 years).
  • Adhere to all NYS OCFS, Department of Health SSCC standards, expectations and regulations.
  • Maintain hygiene habits in accordance with CDC guidelines

  • The work is performed both indoors and outdoors.
  • Plan, lead and participate in a variety of physical activities.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • CDA (Child Development Associate Certification)
  • Associate’s or Bachelors degree in early childhood education or a related field
  • Experience in an 18-month to 3-year old classroom preferred

JOB DETAILS:

  • Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
  • Expected hours: 35 per week
