General Responsibilities
is recruiting highly qualified and experienced toddler teacher for our toddler program, serving children from 12 months to 2 1/2 years old. They will work closely with a co-lead teacher to implement the curriculum, supervise children, and ensure a safe and engaging learning experience. They are responsible for creating and implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans to educate and care for young children. They will teach basic skills like colors, shapes, numbers, and letters, while intentionally fostering children’s social, emotional, and motor skills development through play-based learning. They will also maintain a safe and positive classroom environment and be able to communicate with parents regularly regarding their child’s progress.
Work Schedule
This position is full-time, approximately 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday or as scheduled by the Director. This position is year-round and at either of the two centers.
Essential Functions:
- Plan developmentally appropriate child centered curriculum.
- Plan the program to meet the needs of the individual child with concerns for their interests, unique abilities, special talents, cultural background and individual styles.
- Plan and set up the environment of the room with well-defined interest areas. Set up toys and materials so that they are accessible to children.
- Post and implement appropriate guidance techniques and current lesson plans in the classroom.
- Supervise, interact, and play with children during assigned times of responsibilities.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, clean and healthy room environment, including administering first aid and handling emergencies.
- Assist with toileting, diapering, and hygiene needs of children.
- Establish and maintain positive communication and confidentiality using collaborative methods to problem solve and interact with families, children, and staff.
- Maintain all center records in an accurate and timely manner and in accordance with policy and procedures.
- Provide direction to childcare assistants, temporary staff and volunteers.
- Participate regularly in staff meetings, professional development programs and workshops.
- Complete child assessments as required throughout the program year.
- Support and follow the direction of the center supervisor.
- Serve meals and snacks to children
- Maintain compliance with company policies and procedures and state licensing requirements.
Other Functions:
- Light cleaning which may include sweeping, mopping, cleaning toilets and other cleaning duties.
- Other duties as assigned to support the success of Children’s Village – BR, Inc. and Children’s Village – Salmon Creek, Inc, and Children’s Village – Battle Ground, Inc.
·Minimum Qualifications:
- 20 quarter hours in Early Childhood Education.
- Two years successful experience working with children.
- 18 years of age or older
- Ability to work within a team and to work effectively with other people.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English at a level sufficient to perform essential job functions
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- Associate’s degree or higher in early childhood education, elementary education, special education, or related field.
- Knowledge of childcare programs and services.
- Two years’ experience in management, supervision or leadership.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Travel to Children’s Village centers as assigned.
- Regular attendance during scheduled work hours.
- May be required to sit, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl to attend to children's needs and to provide learning activities; periods of standing for long periods.
- May be required to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs.
- Specific hearing ability to actively hear conversations between children and be able to respond accordingly to keep children safe.
- Must be able to move around the classroom freely to meet the needs of the children.
Employment Requirements:
- Successful completion of a portable background check and clearance through the Department of Children, Youth and Families
- Valid certification in CPR, first aid, HIV/Bloodborne Pathogens training and current WA food handler's card.
- Negative TB test completed within the previous twelve months.
- Medical clearance from health care provider
- Participation in the State Training and Registry System (STARS) program and completion of Child Care Basics training within three months of hire
- Maintain individual MERIT Workforce Registry record
- Other training as required
