FHJC Early Childhood Center is seeking a warm, creative, and nurturing educator to lead our Judaic Twos classroom.
Our Reggio-inspired program celebrates children's natural curiosity while helping them develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning. Jewish values and traditions are thoughtfully woven throughout the curriculum, allowing children to build meaningful connections to their heritage through play, music, storytelling, holidays, and everyday experiences.
Qualifications
In compliance with NYC Department of Health Article 47:
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (required per NYC DOH Article 47)
- NYS Early Childhood Certification (Birth–Grade 2) or an active study plan toward certification is strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practice
- Experience with emergent curriculum and inquiry-based learning
- Comfortable teaching Jewish holidays, Shabbat, brachot, and mitzvot in an age-appropriate manner
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Must meet all NYC Department of Health Article 47 health and background check requirements
Responsibilities
- Create a safe, joyful, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment
- Plan engaging experiences that encourage exploration, creativity, and social-emotional growth
- Integrate Jewish values and traditions into daily classroom life
- Observe and support each child's individual development
- Foster strong relationships with children and families
- Collaborate with assistant teachers, specialists, and administration
- Maintain classroom documentation and portfolios
- Attend staff meetings and professional development opportunities
Position Details
- Five mornings per week
- 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
- Forest Hills, Queens
- Salary commensurate with experience
