Lead Tooling Quality Inspector

ABOUT THE ROLE

Schwab Industries is looking for a Lead Tooling Quality Inspector who can take ownership of final inspection and get tools across the finish line. This role is hands on and fast paced. You will be the last stop before shipment, responsible for making sure the tool meets print, documentation is complete, and the customer signs off.

You will be working directly with machining, fabrication, and customer source inspectors. If you need constant direction or prefer a slow, audit only environment, this is not the role. If you know what acceptable is and can push a job to completion without constant direction, you will do well here.

What You’ll Do

· Own final inspection and release of tools prior to shipment

· Verify parts and assemblies meet drawing, model, and GD&T requirements

· Balloon drawings and build clear, usable inspection reports

· Ensure all required documentation is complete and traceable including

o Material certs

o Weld certs

o NDT certs

o Heat treat and processing records

· Work directly with customer source inspectors for tool buy off

· Catch issues early and drive resolution with the floor including machining, fabrication, and assembly

· Write up and track nonconformances when needed but focus on fixing problems, not just documenting them

· Keep jobs moving without sacrificing quality or compliance

· Support final validation to ensure tools are ready to ship when promised

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience working with Boeing, Lockheed, Gulfstream, or similar source inspectors
  • Strong print reading and GD&T knowledge
  • Experience inspecting large tools, weldments, or complex assemblies
  • Proficient in Excel and comfortable building inspection reports
  • Experience with drawing ballooning and traceability
  • Comfortable working on the floor and making real time decisions

  • Must be able to lift and move up to 35 pounds, occasionally lift and move objects up to 50lbs.
