Learning and Development Training Specialist

SCHEDULE: Full-time; Monday through Friday (8:00am-4:30pm) Average of 40 hours/week

SCOPE:

Manage and train the learning and development programs in alignment with the bank's mission, vision and core values. Focus includes the identification of development needs, program creation and delivery.


ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Learning and Development Management:

  • Create a talent training program to support the strategic plan of the company.
  • Responsible for assessing and meeting the professional development needs of the bank from a companywide standpoint including a focus on management skills, leadership, and human resource related training.
  • Provide expertise in planning and execution of employee training and development efforts.
    • Develop course content and effective training materials utilizing a variety of media.
    • Present topics through a variety of instructional methods such as classroom instruction, webinars, online classes, etc.
    • Develop and monitor the training budget and spending.
    • Schedule training sessions ensuring facility setup, audiovisual setup, supply order, etc. Work with office managers and appropriate staff to coordinate on-site classes.
    • Determine effectiveness of training programs through testing, participant feedback and follow-up of completed training to evaluate and measure results. Recommend appropriate changes and modify programs as needed.


Mentoring:

  • Provide one-on-one instruction and mentoring, primarily to supervisors and management.
  • Consult with management on training needs, organizational and leadership matters.


Other Duties:

  • Conduct New Hire orientations on a rotating schedule.
  • Develop and maintain job related communications to ensure employees have knowledge of development opportunities and general information.
  • Work effectively as a human resource team member and assist with departmental tasks and initiatives as needed.
  • Exemplify the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
  • Promote a positive image of the department and bank through participation in company events and community involvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, industrial and organizational psychology, business administration or liberal arts and 5-10 years of experience in learning and development, training, and human resources are preferred; 5 years of experience in a supervisory/management role; or equivalent combination.
  • Strong strategic planning and operational implementation skills, with the ability to integrate and align strategy, people and activities across functions, processes and teams.
  • Must be a strategic thinker, self-starter, take initiative, make decisions, accept responsibility and have the ability to work independently.
  • Strong business focus, critical thinking, process orientation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills. Must have high energy and enthusiasm and be comfortable presenting in front of groups.
  • Must be able to work under stress, handle difficult situations, and juggle multiple priorities.
  • This job requires skills needed in a typical office environment. This includes computer skills, as well as utilization of office equipment.
