Learning Assistant (Learning Resource Center Coordinator)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Learning Assistant (Learning Resource Center Coordinator) position located at our campus in Temecula, CA. Mt. San Jacinto Community College District seeks a Learning Assistant (Learning Resource Center Coordinator) to coordinate and oversee activities in the Learning Resource Center (LRC), a facility that houses a Writing Center, Math Center, general tutoring services, embedded tutoring, and supplemental instruction. The primary duties of the Learning Assistant (Learning Resource Center Coordinator) will require 1372 hours which equates to 196 service days per academic year, coordinating the day-to-day activities of the Learning Resource Center, tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, and embedded tutoring. This is a full-time tenure-track non-teaching academic position. Faculty members are expected to participate in college governance through Academic Senate appointments to standing councils, committees, and/or a variety of task forces. This position will work collaboratively with other divisions, departments, and services on campus to plan, develop, and support these programs. The Learning Assistant (Learning Resource Center Coordinator) works closely with the area Dean to plan, develop, support, and implement academic support programs with the LRC. Initial placement on the salary schedule will be commensurate with education and experience, not to exceed step five (5) on the assigned salary schedule. Step five (5) may be exceeded if the district determines an extraordinary need, or circumstance warrants a higher placement. This is a full-time tenure-track non-teaching academic position. This Academic assignment requires 196 service days per academic year.While this current vacancy is expected at the Temecula Valley Campus, applicants may be assigned to any district facility. The start date for this position will be July 2026. Additional openings that become available prior to the end of the hiring process may also be filled from the qualified applicants. The omission of specific statements and duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to this class.Learning Assistant (Learning Resource Center Coordinator) Responsibilities: Lead the development, implementation, and expansion of embedded tutoring and Supplemental Instruction in coordination with faculty and instructional departmentsLead innovative efforts within the Learning Resource Center by evaluating, piloting, and implementing emerging educational technologies and evidence-based, inclusive service models to improve equitable access, student engagement, and learning outcomesServe as liaison between the Learning Resource Center and instructional faculty, and as liaison between the Learning Resource Center and other student support programsCollaborate with Math and Writing Center Coordinators, Learning Disabilities Specialists, and Peer Educator Specialists to develop and carryout the goals and mission of the Learning Resource CenterCollaborate with discipline departments, campus services, and programs to develop and implement student-centered academic supportFacilitate faculty professional development and orientations about Learning Resource Center servicesOrganize and coordinate classroom visits to inform faculty and students of the Learning Resource Center services Facilitate Learning Resource Center trainings and/or conduct workshops, study groups, and other forms of academic assistanceLead, maintain, and update Peer Educator training curriculum to align with current best practices, culturally responsive strategies, and research in peer-led academic supportOversee development and assessment of instructional materials and softwareOversee recruitment and hiring of Peer Educators, Supplemental Instruction Leaders, and Embedded TutorsAssist with the evaluation of Peer Educator performance and developmentIdentify, assign, and train district Peer Educator mentorsIdentify, support, and advocate for the Peer Educators' ongoing professional and academic growth and development opportunitiesOversee the development and maintenance of LRC handbooks for Peer Educators, Supplemental Instruction Leaders, and Embedded TutorsWork with the Institutional Effectiveness department to develop research queries relating to Learning Resource Center programs with the goal of enhancing student retention, success, and equityPerform Annual Program Reviews and other reportsData collection and reporting to interest holders such as leadership and accrediting bodies for apportionment under Supervised Tutoring regulations and program certificationMaintain compliance with accrediting bodies such as CRLA and ICSI (International Center for Supplemental Instruction)Monitor daily Learning Resource Center activities, work with LRC support staff for Peer Educator schedule developmentPromote a professional and productive learning environment among students and staff; maintain regular and effective communication with center coordinators, with discipline faculty, and with the deanMonitor the effectiveness and function of the online tutoring program and paper drop-off systemMonitor and review district-wide Learning Resource Center website for accuracy and currencyProfessional and Curriculum Development: Maintain currency in fieldDevelop, maintain and evaluate curriculumMaintain and review course-specific and program-level student learning outcomesInteract with faculty and staff in other areas of instruction and participate in the development of instructional methods, technology and materialsWork with peers in higher education, business and industry to maintain currency of instructional programsInteraction with Colleagues: Participate in campus/college governance by serving on campus/college committeesParticipate in professional development, student and other educational activities in accordance with college policiesAt all times demonstrate respect for the rights and needs of students and demonstrate respect for staff, colleagues and the teaching professionDemonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff
