Job Summary:
The Learning & Development (L&D) Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing training programs that enhance employee skills, support field operations, and strengthen organizational performance across all project teams. This role plays a key part in developing craft, field, and office staff through structured learning initiatives, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, and supporting career development pathways within the company.
Essential Functions:
Training Program Development & Delivery

Design, develop, and facilitate training programs for field, project management, and administrative teams, including technical skills, leadership, onboarding, and safety-related content.
- Create curriculum, training materials, job aids, and learning modules tailored to construction roles and processes.
- Coordinate and deliver new hire onboarding sessions to ensure consistent integration into company culture, systems, and operational standards.

Partner with subject matter experts (SMEs) to build relevant and practical training content.
Learning Management & Administration

Maintain and administer the Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring training assignments, completion tracking, and reporting accuracy.
- Evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, feedback surveys, and performance data; implement improvements based on findings.

Organize and schedule training sessions, workshops, certification programs, and continuing education courses.
Compliance & Safety Support

Support mandatory compliance and safety training in collaboration with the Safety Department (e.g., OSHA, equipment training, jobsite orientations).

Ensure training documentation meets regulatory requirements and company standards.
- Assist with monitoring certifications, license renewals, and required training for field personnel.
Organizational Development & Continuous Improvement

Support leadership development initiatives, succession planning efforts, and professional development pathways.
- Identify skills gaps and recommend targeted training solutions to improve operational performance.
- Collaborate with HR and Operations to streamline onboarding, employee development programs, and workforce planning.
Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with Project Executives, Superintendents, Project Managers, and HR to assess training needs across business units.
- Maintain strong relationships with external training providers, industry partners, and trade organizations.
Corporate Requirements
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational conferences; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies, etc.
- Satisfactory completion of appropriate corporate training as related to the position and/or department.
- Contributes to overall achievement by accomplishing related tasks and demonstrating characteristics that exemplify team building and support.

3+ years of experience in Learning & Development, training, or organizational development; construction or commercial contracting industry experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with LMS administration, instructional design, and developing blended learning programs (classroom, virtual, and on-the-job).
- Understanding of construction processes, roles, safety standards, and project workflows (preferred).
- Strong facilitation, presentation, and public-speaking skills.
- Proficiency in creating engaging training content using tools such as PowerPoint, Articulate, Captivate, or similar software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical skills and experience evaluating training effectiveness.
- Highly collaborative with the ability to work across diverse field and office environments.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Education, Organizational Development, or related field (preferred).
