The Learning & Leadership Development Specialist is responsible to assist in the development, and monitoring of White Castle System, Inc.'s professional development and training program for all Team Members to ensure that its restaurants, plants, bakeries, and Home Office are staffed with capable and competent individuals, both on the operational and management levels. The emphasis of the LLD Program will be to make all Team Members feel valued and appreciated as team members while providing exceptional service for our customers. The person in this role will develop programs, conduct needs assessments, and follow-up to ensure and monitor training effectiveness and compatibility with Company goals and to prepare individuals for the Company's promote-from- within succession policy (career development). The incumbent will act as the Company coordinator for any training as required by co-branding contracts or agreements.


What we are looking for

  • Bachelor's Degree is required; preferably in education, psychology, training and development, or human resources;
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience with technical knowledge in developing and executing training programs;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Must have project management knowledge, technical acumen (MS Office Suite), and organization skill to facilitate, design and development of training proposals and programs;
  • Ability to balance regional preferences and tailor approaches and programs to fit the diverse learning needs of the culture and business environments;
  • Travel availability, eligibility, and reliability are functions of this role with expectations for supporting flexible schedules (business operations and events), special assignments (new Castle Openings, re-openings, etc.), professional memberships, and/or community affiliated activities;
  • Ability to lift materials, manage equipment and appropriately use transport equipment, prepare training materials and prolonged computer use are aspects of this role. Facilitating room set up – including table and chair placement, moving/standing for periods of training delivery;
  • This position is onsite and not a remote role.


What you will do

  • Construct, communicate, and meet timelines (inherited or set) to align with project management practices to ensure implementation of monitoring and evaluate tools for program completion and effectiveness using the learning management system (WCU Online) for reporting;
  • Collaborate intensively - working with the department (L&LD), regions, divisions, and Home Office to ensure suitable, beneficial White Castle University Online modules and programs. Including to create, maintain, and update program facilitation guides and reinforcement tools (participant workbooks & progress sheets) to sustain understanding of key program learnings;
  • Ensure learning management system (WCU Online) support – ServSafe exam codes, password resets, instructional materials/quick reference guide, eLearning content (program, course, & lesson) functionality, etc.;
  • Use and leverage vendor contacts to support learning management system (WCU Online) functionality and expand learning library content. Facilitate tasks that result in the creation, maintenance, and update(s) for ServSafe documentation, certification (Food Handler, Food Manager, Allergen, and Proctor) completion records in WCU Online;

  • Assess technology needs company and department events/programs to identify advanced planning opportunities to plan approach (procedures and delivery), process, and tools (materials & equipment) essential to meet provided objectives; including e-learning content development;
  • Establish, and maintain liaison relationships with technology and production vendors, event contacts, Home Office departments, regional leaders, and facilities services to a) deliver clear and concise communication b) met event deadlines, and c) met event/program objectives;
  • Facilitate communication by leveraging technical knowledge, vendor insight, and participant needs. Ensure collaborative process (delivery, follow-up, and communication) is managed via monitoring partner relationships;
  • Support and contribute in all phases of the White Castle Universities - working closely with the Sr. Manager, Regions, Divisions, and Home Office to ensure suitable, beneficial university materials. Contribute to course curriculum and research appropriate ways to deliver programs supporting the training manager;
  • Contribute to the on-time delivery and effectiveness of Home Office, regional, or department learning programs and services - using knowledge for various initiatives and programs to manage tasks aligned with HO, Manufacturing and Castle divisions;
  • Coordinate SME activities. Produce/incorporate training manual revisions and edits and suggest changes as needed for all current Region training manuals into one document. Cover all regions of operations, customer service, team member relations, quality control, safety, safe-food handling procedures, etc.;
  • Provide input and contribute to the review of upper-management level programs. Under the direction of the Training and Development Sr. Manager "write the programs and support tools". Support follow-up procedures to measure effectiveness and consistency of program;
  • Work with Corporate Events coordinator to select location and support training and corporate events. Schedule rooms, amenities, and equipment for the training sessions and meetings to specifications. Recommend the attendee transportation and accommodations. Suggest materials, evaluations, follow-up materials, and source supplies for training events;
  • All other duties as assigned.
