Job Description
The Lease Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, monitoring, and basic maintenance of oil and gas wells, production equipment, and processing facilities. This role focuses on supporting the operation of oil, gas, and water separation systems and associated surface equipment while maintaining safe and reliable production.
The operator performs routine inspections, monitors process conditions, and adjusts equipment to ensure production systems operate within specified parameters. This position also supports facility start-up activities, utilizes operational tools and procedures, and follows established work permitting and safety protocols. The role requires strong troubleshooting ability, attention to safety, and the ability to work independently in field environments.
Responsibilities
Operations & Monitoring

Monitor and operate wells, separation equipment, and associated production facilities.

Inspect field equipment and work areas to ensure proper operation and safe conditions.

Monitor process parameters including temperature, pressure, level, flow rate, and vibration.

Gauge tanks, read meters, collect samples, and record production data accurately.

Adjust local process parameters to maintain optimal production and product specifications.

Review system data and equipment schematics to monitor and optimize operations.

Monitor equipment performance and respond to alarms or abnormal operating conditions.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting

Perform routine visual inspections to identify leaks, freezing, overheating, or other equipment issues.

Conduct basic maintenance such as lubricating equipment, tightening valve packing, replacing filters, and clearing equipment.

Inspect and verify valve positions and operating configurations.
-
Troubleshoot surface equipment issues and assist in diagnosing operational problems.
-
Perform seasonal equipment preparation activities to ensure efficient operation.

Use handheld monitors, electronic testing devices, and monitoring systems to assess equipment condition.
Safety & Compliance

Follow and enforce all safety policies and procedures.

Issue work permits and ensure safe conditions for maintenance activities.

Perform gas testing when required prior to maintenance work.

Inspect safety equipment including fire extinguishers, safety valves, fire hoses, and breathing apparatus.

Use required personal protective equipment and safety monitoring devices.

Perform work in compliance with environmental regulations and procedures to minimize emissions and spills.
Operations Coordination & Reporting

Maintain accurate gauge sheets, operating logs, and production records.

Document operational changes and production variances.
-
Coordinate logistics related to oil sales and produced water hauling when required.

Communicate operational conditions and changes with supervisors and team members.

Maintain vehicles and equipment in safe working condition.

Support continuous improvement initiatives and maintain strong operational awareness.
Skills

Strong troubleshooting ability with surface production equipment

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required

Previous experience in oil and gas production operations or a closely related field preferred

Experience operating or maintaining surface production equipment

Ability to work rotating shifts and respond to call-outs as needed

Ability to work independently and troubleshoot equipment issues

Basic computer skills and familiarity with operational monitoring systems

Ability to lift more than 50 pounds and climb ladders or stairs

Ability to safely use breathing apparatus and safety monitoring equipment
-
Strong commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, and operational reliability
Job Details
Pay: LO I- 34.60/hr, LO II – 43.25/hr
Schedule: Nights 7/7 - 6p-6a
