Job description:
Position Summary
The Leasing Agent is responsible for leasing apartments, providing exceptional customer service to prospective and current residents, and supporting the day-to-day operations of the apartment community. This role serves as the first point of contact for prospects and plays a critical role in achieving occupancy and revenue goals.
Key Responsibilities
Leasing and Sales
- Greet and qualify prospective residents in person, by phone, and online
- Conduct property tours and effectively present apartment features, amenities, and community benefits
- Explain lease terms, rental rates, policies, and procedures clearly and professionally
- Close leases and achieve individual and community leasing goals
- Follow up with prospects through phone calls, emails, and CRM systems
- Maintain accurate and complete leasing documentation
Resident Relations
- Provide outstanding customer service to current and prospective residents
- Assist residents with questions, concerns, and service requests
- Enforce community policies and lease provisions in a professional manner
- Contribute to resident retention efforts and renewal activities
Administrative Duties
- Process rental applications, screening, and lease paperwork
- Collect application fees, deposits, and initial rent payments
- Maintain accurate resident and prospect records
- Assist with rent collections and delinquency follow-up as needed
- Support marketing efforts, including online listings and community outreach
Community Operations
- Maintain knowledge of market competitors and pricing trends
- Ensure leasing office and model units are clean, organized, and tour-ready
- Assist with resident events and promotional activities
- Comply with Fair Housing laws and company policies at all times
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework preferred
- Prior leasing, sales, or customer service experience preferred
- Multifamily housing experience is a plus
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and sales skills
- Proficiency with property management software (e.g., Yardi, RealPage, AppFolio) preferred
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and meet deadlines
- Weekend availability required; flexible schedule as needed
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk the property and climb stairs as needed
- Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation is commensurate with experience and may includes leasing commissions of $100 per lease plus bonuses on certain units and high number of leases. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, paid time off, housing discounts, and other company-provided benefits.
