The South Portland School Department is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Leave Specialist to join our Human Resources team in supporting employees across the school system. This position is responsible for administering all employee leave programs, including FMLA, Maine family leave laws, ADA accommodations, workers compensation and district-specific policies, while ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations. The Leave Specialist will serve as the primary point of contact for staff navigating leave processes, providing clear communication, accurate documentation, and compassionate guidance. The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, experience in HR or leave administration, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. We are looking for someone with experience working within a collective bargaining environment, who can manage multiple cases simultaneously, collaborate with administrators and staff, and contribute to an efficient and supportive HR environment.

Reports to: Director of Finance

Role is 20 hours a week

Annual Salary of 32,760-36,920

($31.50 - $35.50 an hour)
