Job Summary:

The lecturer /senior lecturer is expected to meet his/her professional and institutional commitment at the University on a regular basis throughout the academic year. These commitments include time spent on teaching, curriculum design and development, course design and preparation, student learning assessment, and instructional design and delivery.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Teach assigned General Education courses, including Communication Skills in Arabic (for both Arab and non-Arab students), UAE Society, Islamic Culture, and Ethics.
• Perform tasks assigned by the head of department.
• Perform academic advising. Each faculty member is expected to be an academic adviser to students.
• Perform related administrative activities.
• Refer students to counselors as needed.
• Keep students informed about their progress through the prompt grading of papers and other work.
• Convey University-related information to students in a timely manner as requested by university officials.
• Teach and assess students.
• Active involvement in students’ learning process.
• Teach all classes according to an approved course syllabus.
• Maximize the learning opportunities for each student.
• Provide students with a syllabus via the University’s learning management system (Blackboard).
• Prepare lectures in advance and use proper teaching aids, such as audio-visual aids, the Internet, and computer labs.
• Motivate the students and encourage them in the class.
• Ensure the usage of appropriate language for instruction (English for the English-language courses and Arabic for the Arabic-language courses).
• Active involvement in planning, implementation, and management of exchange Degree Programs.
• Encourage students’ association with internal and external communities.
• Offer service to the community as an integrated part of the teaching and research activities of the department.
• Prepare course material, such as handouts, presentations, workshops, case studies, and so on.

Requirements:

• A Master’s degree in Education from an accredited institution is required.
• Demonstrated fluency in both spoken and written Arabic and English.

Experience:

• Teaching experience at higher education institutions.
• Previous experience in teaching blended courses is beneficial
• Professional experience is preferred.
