LEGAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT – BANKRUPTCY LITIGATION (OAKLAND, CA – HYBRID)
Salary $100,000 - $107,000
We are seeking an experienced Legal Administrative Assistant to support our Bankruptcy Litigation team in Oakland. This is a hybrid role, with three days in the office and two days remote each week.
This position supports attorneys handling complex business bankruptcy and creditors’ rights matters, including Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 proceedings and related adversary litigation. Key Responsibilities

Provide administrative and litigation support to multiple attorneys across Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 matters, including creditors’ rights and trustee representations

Prepare, format, proofread, and finalize pleadings, motions, and correspondence for filing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court

Electronically file documents via CM/ECF and conduct research using PACER, ensuring compliance with federal and local bankruptcy rules (including Northern District of California requirements)

Support adversary proceedings, including preparation and filing of complaints, motions, and related pleadings

Track and manage critical deadlines, including bar dates, hearings, and court-imposed deadlines

Coordinate service of process and filings in accordance with bankruptcy and federal rules

Maintain complex calendaring and docketing across multiple active matters

Communicate with courts, clients, and internal teams as needed

Assist with conflict checks, engagement letters, and matter intake

Organize and maintain case files, including preparation of binders and materials for hearings or trial

Collaborate with internal departments to ensure timely and accurate completion of work
This role requires flexibility during periods of high workload and a proactive, team-oriented approach to supporting attorneys and the broader litigation team.
Required Qualifications

5+ years of experience as a Legal Administrative Assistant supporting business bankruptcy and/or bankruptcy litigation

Strong working knowledge of U.S. Bankruptcy Court procedures, including CM/ECF filing and PACER

Experience supporting adversary proceedings and federal court litigation processes

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)

Strong document formatting skills, including pleadings and court-compliant filings

Excellent attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage competing deadlines

Strong command of grammar, spelling, and legal formatting standards

Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting creditors, trustees, or financial restructuring matters

Familiarity with Northern District of California Bankruptcy Court procedures

Experience with iManage, Intapp, and docketing/calendaring systems

Experience preparing tables of contents and tables of authorities

Exposure to bankruptcy appeals, avoidance actions, or complex litigation matters
