SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
Dentons Bingham Greenebaum LLP has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Legal Administrative Assistant in our Indianapolis office. This role supports multiple attorneys mostly, but not exclusively, in the Tax & Litigation practice departments. The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of experience working as a Legal Administrative Assistant with a sophisticated Litigation practice group. Experience with contract and commercial disputes, products liability and mass tort, and/or employment litigation is a plus.
This position will include traditional LAA responsibilities including but not limited to: preparation of detailed legal documents, electronic filings, client management, formatting, proofreading and editing of documents, travel arrangements, and other legal assistant functions. We seek candidates that are self-directed, high energy, and have advanced computer skills.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain positive contact and communications with clients, attorneys and staff in large law firm environment.
- Preparation and processing of documents including electronic filings.
- Maintain schedules and calendars for multiple attorneys and transactions, tracking of critical dates.
- Open new client matters.
- Maintaining accurate and current information in case management system/iManage.
- Meet client deadlines and adapt to industry changes.
- Ensuring timely delivery of outgoing mail, messenger deliveries, overnight deliveries, etc.
- Ensuring timely, courteous, and thorough responses to a heavy volume of email correspondence.
- Proofreading and editing legal documents timely.
- Providing support to attorneys in a high volume, time sensitive atmosphere.
- Performing other duties and responsibilities as needed.
Job Requirements:
- 7+ years of legal secretary experience preferred. Experience with contract and commercial disputes, products liability and mass tort, and/or employment litigation is a plus.
- Solid understanding of the legal process with considerable knowledge of legal terminology regarding litigation documents and litigation procedures including rules and procedures of the State, Federal and Appellate court systems.
- Excellent computer/technical skills and effective communication skills a must.
- Attention to detail with excellent proofreading skills.
- Proven success as a positive team player as well as an independent worker.
- Ability to multi-task and balance multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Concrete understanding of Partner level communication styles, expectations, turnaround demands and sense of urgency.
- Learns quickly, aptitude for detail oriented projects, and eager to grow with this practice group.
