Legal Assistant

Position Overview

The Legal Assistant will provide administrative and legal support within the Legal Services Unit, assisting attorneys and staff who work with Arizona schools, administrators, families, and other governmental entities. This position requires professionalism, organization, and strong attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support attorneys with case management, litigation preparation, and public records coordination.
  • Prepare and organize witness/exhibit lists, depositions, and legal documentation.
  • Manage case files, including indexing, filing, and document analysis.
  • Assist with investigations of administrative or legal violations related to education law.
  • Conduct legal and investigative research using databases, internet sources, and agency tools.
  • Draft and review correspondence, spreadsheets, and reports for legal proceedings.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional and ethical standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree (minimum required).
  • Paralegal or similar experience in legal or administrative support.
  • Strong skills in organization, time management, and multitasking.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
  • Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly and professionally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a paralegal or legal assistant supporting litigation or investigations.
  • Familiarity with Arizona administrative practices and procedures.
  • Experience with electronic document review platforms and multi-monitor setups.
  • Bachelor’s degree or J.D. preferred.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
