We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Legal Assistant to support our legal team. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills combined with a solid understanding of various areas of law, including estate planning, environmental law, family law, and litigation. This role involves managing legal documents, conducting research, and providing executive administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of our law office. Responsibilities
- Manage and organize legal documents using document management systems such as iManage, PCLaw, and Westlaw.
- Conduct legal research across diverse practice areas including estate planning, environmental law, UCC law, immigration law, landlord-tenant law, securities law, tribal law & regulations, patent law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, and litigation.
- Assist with legal case management by reviewing documents, preparing summaries, and maintaining case files.
- Draft and proofread legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, correspondence, and reports with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Support attorneys with legal administrative tasks including data entry, filing, document review, and transcription.
- Coordinate interviews and gather information through interviewing clients or witnesses as needed.
- Utilize legal research tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw to gather relevant case law and statutes.
- Provide executive administrative support by managing calendars, scheduling meetings, answering phones with professional etiquette, and organizing files for efficient retrieval.
- Assist in project management tasks related to ongoing cases or legal initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with legal standards and confidentiality protocols at all times.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of multiple practice areas including estate planning, environmental law, family law, litigation, patent law, tribal law & regulations, securities law, immigration law, landlord-tenant law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law.
- Proficiency in legal case management software such as iManage and PCLaw; familiarity with document management systems like Westlaw and LexisNexis.
- Strong research skills utilizing LexisNexis and Westlaw for legal research purposes.
- Excellent drafting skills for preparing contracts and legal documents; meticulous proofreading abilities.
- Experience with legal administrative tasks including data entry, filing systems, document review, transcription services.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Effective communication skills demonstrated through phone etiquette and professional interaction with clients and team members.
- Ability to handle confidential information discreetly while maintaining high levels of accuracy in documentation.
- Paralegal experience or prior legal administrative experience is highly desirable.
