Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support our legal team primarily in the areas of criminal defense and family law. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills. This role could serve as experience for an internship or a student seeking a paralegal certificate. Pay is negotiable based on experience. Hours are negotiable depending on skill level.
Responsibilities
- Prepare pleadings and correspondence with attention to accuracy and proofreading.
- Billing responsibilities.
- Coordinate client interviews and maintain communication with clients via phone etiquette and professional correspondence.
- Assist with project management tasks related to case deadlines, court filings, and client appointments.
- Provide administrative support including scheduling, calendar management, and general clerical duties such as filing and data entry.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance with legal standards.
Requirements
- Prior paralegal or legal administrative experience is preferred; familiarity with office procedures is essential.
- Knowledge and/or interest in the areas of criminal defense and family law is highly desirable.
- Effective communication skills with professional phone etiquette.
- Ability to handle administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and document management accurately.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 40 per week
