We are searching for an experienced legal assistant to assist attorneys to concentrate on higher-level legal strategy by handling routine and administrative tasks. This work ensures that cases are well-prepared, documents are accurate and timely, and administrative operations run smoothly, contributing directly to the efficiency and success of our law firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Document Management: Drafting, proofreading, editing, and formatting various legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, briefs, and contracts.
- Legal Research: Gathering and compiling information, such as case law and witness reports, to support attorneys' cases.
- Case & Calendar Management: Organizing and maintaining case files, monitoring and meeting deadlines, scheduling meetings, and managing attorney calendars.
- Court Filings & Logistics: Preparing and filing documents with state and federal courts, and coordinating trial logistics.
- Client & Witness Coordination: Communicating with clients and witnesses to schedule interviews, gather information, and relay messages.
- Administrative Support: Performing general administrative tasks like answering phones, making travel arrangements, and preparing expense reports.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Strong Communication Skills: Both written and verbal, for interacting with clients, witnesses, and court staff.
- Exceptional Organizational Skills: To manage multiple cases, complex deadlines, and extensive documentation.
- Attention to Detail: Crucial for spotting errors in legal documents and ensuring accuracy in case files and filings.
- Technological Proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and legal software for document management and case tracking.
- Knowledge of Legal Procedures: Understanding state and federal court rules and filing procedures.
- Strong Interpersonal Skills: Possessing the inherent ability to work as a team member, to assist others when there is a need, and be able to cheerfully work in a sometimes high-stress environment.
