<Job Summary>
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our dynamic legal team. <Duties>
- Assist attorneys with legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to gather pertinent case law, statutes, and regulations across diverse practice areas such as estate planning, environmental law, family law, securities law, tribal law, patent law, and workers' compensation law.
- Prepare, review, and proofread legal documents including contracts, pleadings, discovery requests, and correspondence with meticulous attention to detail.
- Manage legal case files using document management systems like iManage and PCLaw; ensure all records are accurate, organized, and easily accessible.
- Conduct thorough document review and data entry to support litigation processes and case preparation.
- Support project management efforts by coordinating deadlines, scheduling meetings, and maintaining calendars for multiple cases or projects simultaneously.
- Perform administrative duties such as filing, answering phones with professional etiquette, transcribing dictations, proofreading documents, and managing incoming correspondence.
- Assist with client interviews and document collection processes to facilitate effective communication between clients and attorneys.
<Qualifications>
- Proven experience as a paralegal or legal assistant with familiarity in various practice areas including estate planning, environmental law, family law, securities law, tribal law & regulations, patent law, or workers' compensation law is highly preferred.
- Strong research skills utilizing Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research platforms.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in legal case management software such as iManage or PCLaw; experience with document review systems is advantageous.
- Exceptional writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence; keen proofreading abilities to ensure accuracy.
- Demonstrated clerical experience including data entry, filing, transcription, and administrative support within a law office setting.
- Effective communication skills with professional phone etiquette; ability to interview clients or witnesses when needed.
- Knowledge of UCC law (Uniform Commercial Code), landlording-tenant issues, immigration procedures, personal injury claims, litigation procedures, and federal regulations is a plus but not mandatory.
