Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant specializing in Employment-Based Immigration to join our legal team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support complex immigration cases, assist with legal research, and manage documentation efficiently. Duties
- Assist with preparing and reviewing immigration petitions, applications, and supporting documents for employment-based visas such as H-1B, L-1, O-1, and PERM labor certifications
- Conduct thorough legal research on immigration laws, policies, and procedures using tools like LexisNexis and Westlaw
- Manage case files and document management systems including iManage and PCLaw to ensure accurate recordkeeping and timely updates
- Interview clients to gather necessary information, verify details, and clarify documentation requirements
- Draft legal correspondence, affidavits, cover letters, and other legal documents with precision and clarity
- Coordinate with government agencies such as USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services) to track case statuses and ensure compliance with filing deadlines
- Perform administrative tasks including data entry, filing, proofreading, transcription, and maintaining organized case management systems
- Support attorneys with project management tasks related to multiple immigration cases simultaneously
- Conduct legal research on employment law topics that intersect with immigration issues such as labor rights or employer compliance
Qualifications
- Paralegal experience or prior legal administrative experience in a law office setting
- Strong knowledge of immigration law procedures and documentation requirements
- Familiarity with legal research tools; experience with PrimaFacie or similar document management systems is a plus
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases efficiently under tight deadlines
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; professional phone etiquette is essential
- Proficiency in legal drafting, proofreading, transcription, and document review processes
- Experience with project management tools like PCLaw or other case management software preferred
- Knowledge of related legal areas such as employment law, family law, or labor regulations is advantageous but not required
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while demonstrating initiative and attention to detail
