Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant/Case Manager to join our dynamic legal team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support a wide range of legal practices, including personal injury, employment law, medical malpractice, estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, family law, securities law, tribal law, patent law, and more. Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to gather relevant case law, statutes, and regulations.
- Manage legal case files using document management systems such as iManage. FileVine, and PC Law, ensuring all documents are organized, accurate, and up-to-date.
- Conduct thorough document review and proofreading to ensure accuracy in legal drafting, contracts, pleadings, and correspondence.
- Support litigation processes through data entry, filing court documents electronically or physically, and maintaining meticulous case records.
- Coordinate client interviews and prepare detailed summaries to facilitate case development across diverse practice areas including family law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, landlord-tenant law, and tribal regulations.
- Provide executive administrative support by managing calendars, scheduling appointments, handling phone inquiries with professionalism and courtesy, and performing clerical tasks such as transcription and data entry.
- Assist with project management tasks related to ongoing cases or legal initiatives to ensure deadlines are met efficiently.
Requirements
- Proven paralegal or legal administrative experience with familiarity in multiple practice areas such as estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, securities law, patent law, or tribal regulations.
- Strong research skills utilizing Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research platforms.
- Experience with document management systems including iManage and PCLaw; proficiency in legal case management software is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence; keen proofreading abilities for accuracy.
- Effective interviewing skills to gather pertinent case information from clients or witnesses.
- Knowledge of UCC law (Uniform Commercial Code), land use regulations, or specific practice areas like family or securities law is desirable but not mandatory.
- Strong clerical skills including data entry, filing, transcription, and maintaining meticulous records.
- Outstanding phone etiquette combined with professional communication skills to interact confidently with clients and team members alike.
