Legal Assistant/Paralegal

Coan, Payton & Payne, LLC has an immediate opening for an experienced legal assistant/paralegal to support our transactions team in our Fort Collins, Colorado office. What we are looking for:

Experience/Education Requirements:

  • 3+ years' of relevant experience as a legal assistant/paralegal with a high-quality law firm (preference shown to applicants with a background in business law and/or trademark law)
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent preferred but not required
  • Highly organized and proactive
  • Excellent communication, grammar and proofreading skills
  • Strong technical skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite as well as Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Must have a great sense of humor
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Able to remain flexible with regard to assigned duties and demonstrate a desire to learn and grow
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize workload
  • Work well under deadline pressures
  • Experience with basic real estate, trademark and/or business transactions
  • Experience with NetDocs or other documents management systems

General Responsibilities:

Managing multiple attorney calendars

  • Filing with various state and county document filing systems including Simplifile
  • Drafting simple correspondence
  • Docketing and tracking deadlines
  • Proofing and editing documents under the supervision of an attorney
  • Keeping track of all transaction documents on internal systems
  • General administrative support for the transactions team

Compensation for this role accounts for the wide range of factors considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience, training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The salary range for this role is $62,000 - $75,000 annually. Actual pay will be determined based on skills, relevant experience, and other job-related factors.
