Job Overview
Our office is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Legal Assistant/Paralegal to join our Plaintiff’s personal injury practice. The ideal candidate will support attorneys in all phases of litigation—from initial client intake through settlement or trial preparation. This position also includes work in estate planning (drafting Wills, Powers of Attorney, Medical Directives, and related documents) and general business matters, particularly for construction industry clients.
The Legal Assistant/Paralegal will interact frequently with clients, medical providers, insurance carriers, and court personnel. Strong writing ability, professionalism, and the capacity to manage multiple cases simultaneously are essential.
Key Responsibilities Personal Injury Case Management
- Assist with client intake, conflict checks, and opening new matters.
- Gather accident reports, medical records, billing statements, employment documentation, and insurance information.
- Maintain case files, track treatment, and update internal case management systems.
- Draft and prepare demand packages, medical summaries, lost wage calculations, and record chronologies.
- Process insurance claims, communicate with adjusters, and track settlement negotiations.
- Prepare litigation materials, including complaints, discovery requests/responses, subpoenas, FOIA requests, and trial notebooks.
- Calendar deadlines for statutes of limitation, discovery, hearings, IMEs, and filing requirements.
Client Communication
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients.
- Provide updates, request necessary information, and explain procedures in a clear, compassionate manner.
- Schedule client meetings, depositions, IMEs, and attorney consultations.
Estate Planning Assistance
- Draft Wills, Powers of Attorney, Living Wills, healthcare directives, and simple trust documents.
- Coordinate document execution, witnessing, and notarization.
- Organize estate planning files and maintain confidentiality of sensitive personal information.
Business & Construction Client Support
- Assist attorney in preparing corporate documents, contract drafts, and correspondence for construction business clients.
- Maintain compliance calendars, licenses, and corporate records.
- Draft simple agreements, vendor contracts, and project-related documentation as needed.
