Hiring – Legal Associate (Recovery & Commercial Litigation)

Legal Prism is inviting applications for the position of Legal Associate to join its commercial litigation and recovery practice.

Role Overview

We are looking for a motivated legal professional with 2–5 years of post-qualification experience, primarily in cheque dishonour matters under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, recovery proceedings, and allied commercial disputes. The role involves substantial court work, drafting, and client coordination.

The Associate will be required to regularly handle matters before the Magistrate Courts (Vikhroli & Thane), City Civil & Sessions Court, Mazgaon, and other appropriate forums.

Key Responsibilities

Independently handling Section 138 NI Act matters from notice stage to trial

Conducting and managing recovery proceedings, including summary suits and execution matters

Drafting legal notices, complaints, pleadings, affidavits, applications, replies, and written submissions

Regular appearances before Magistrate Courts, City Civil & Sessions Court, and other subordinate courts

Coordinating with clients for document collation and case strategy

Conducting legal research and assisting in litigation strategy and case preparation

Briefing and assisting senior counsel, where required

Ensuring procedural compliance and timely case management

Requirements

LL.B. from a recognized university

2–5 years PQE with focused experience in Section 138 NI Act matters and recovery litigation

Practical exposure to court proceedings at Vikhroli, Thane, and Mazgaon courts

Strong drafting, research, and analytical skills

Ability to manage matters independently with minimal supervision

Good communication skills and professional client-handling ability
