Legal Compliance Officer

The Company

Globe 24-7 in partnership with a key client are working together to source experienced and qualified Legal Compliance Officer for their office in Abu Dhabi.

The Responsibilities

Regulatory & Legal Compliance

• Ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable UAE federal laws and regulations, including but not limited to:
• Companies Law and relevant commercial regulations
• AML/CFT legislation and implementing regulations
• Ultimate Beneficial Ownership (UBO) requirements
• Data protection and confidentiality obligations
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments in the UAE and assess their impact on the Company’s operations.

Free Zones & Corporate Compliance

• Manage compliance obligations for Free Zone and onshore entities, including (as applicable) ADGM, KEZAD, and other UAE Free Zones.
• Lead and coordinate:
• Incorporation of new entities in Abu Dhabi Free Zones
• Ongoing corporate maintenance (license renewals, filings, amendments)
• Registrar, Free Zone Authority, and government interactions
• Maintain statutory registers, corporate records, and compliance calendars for all group entities.

Governance & Internal Controls

• Support the implementation and maintenance of corporate governance standards.
• Assist with the preparation and maintenance of internal policies and procedures, including:
• Compliance manuals
• Code of Conduct and ethics policies
• Delegation of authority frameworks
• Ensure compliance with internal approvals, reporting lines, and governance requirements.

AML, Sanctions & Risk Management

• Implement and oversee AML/CFT, sanctions, and KYC compliance frameworks appropriate for a mining group with cross-border operations.
• Conduct risk assessments, compliance reviews, and internal audits as required.
• Act as a point of contact for regulators, banks, auditors, and external advisors on compliance matters.

Mining Industry Exposure

• Support compliance matters specific to the mining and natural resources sector, including:
• Interaction with operating subsidiaries and foreign mining jurisdictions
• Coordination with external counsels on mining-related regulatory and licensing issues
• Liaise with group legal and M&A functions on international compliance matters.

The Requirements

• Minimum 2-3 years of proven compliance experience in the UAE, with strong exposure to:
• UAE regulatory and compliance legal framework
• ADGM and KEZAD corporate and regulatory requirements

• Demonstrated hands-on experience in:
• Incorporating Free Zone entities
• Maintaining ongoing compliance for multiple entities
• Ability to work independently and autonomously, with minimal supervision.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Prior experience in the mining and natural resources sectors.
• Experience interacting with regulators, banks, and auditors in the UAE.
• Legal or compliance qualification (LLB, LLM, or relevant compliance certification) is an advantage.
