Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Legal Consultant (Criminal) to provide expert legal assistance in criminal and cyber law matters. The candidate will support law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, and government departments in handling cybercrime cases, developing training modules, reviewing criminal laws, and ensuring compliance with applicable legislation.

The Key Role Includes:

  • Extending legal assistance to law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and prosecutors in handling cybercrime cases.
  • Developing legal training modules and resource materials on cybercrime case handling.
  • Providing inputs on draft criminal bills and reviewing criminal laws for possible amendments.
  • Offering legal opinions on various criminal law matters and preparing draft counters and petitions related to I4C.
  • Providing comments on relevant judgments and following directions of the Hon’ble Courts.
  • Monitoring court cases and coordinating with Standing Counsels and other stakeholders.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in handling criminal cases and cyber law matters.
  • LLB/LLM completed with specialization in Criminal Law, Cyber Law, or Digital Forensics.
  • Strong understanding of New Criminal Laws, IT Act 2000, and other laws applicable to cybercrime.
  • Relevant certification in Cyber Law / Information Security, with knowledge of IT Act, BSA, BNS, BNSS, Intermediary Guidelines, and RBI–NPCI Liability Guidelines (desirable).
  • Knowledge and practical exposure to key legislations including:
  • Indian Penal Code (IPC), Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)
  • Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS)
  • Indian Evidence Act, Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA)
  • Prevention of Corruption Act
  • PMLA, NDPS, and other special criminal laws
  • Experience in handling cases related to data breaches, unauthorized access, online fraud, cyberstalking, hacking, and digital impersonation.
  • Knowledge and experience in drafting legal notices, FIRs, complaints, responses, and legal opinions related to criminal and cyber laws.
  • Excellent drafting, research, and advocacy skills.
  • Strong coordination abilities with LEAs, judiciary, and cyber forensic teams.
