Job Description:
The Legal File Clerk provides essential administrative support by maintaining and organizing physical and digital files for attorneys and paralegals. This role involves ensuring all legal documents, correspondence, and case files are accurately managed, filed, and retrieved according to established firm procedures, upholding strict confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential client information and legal documents. The clerk also performs various clerical duties to support the overall efficiency of the legal team.
Some of those duties include:
-Organize and maintain client legal files
-Get files ready for court, mediation, etc. as requested by the attorney
-Follow case closing procedures to close files and have boxes sent to off-site storage, including preparing file box inventory
-Maintain off-site storage inventory & clean and orderly file room
-Assist with answering the telephone and directing calls
-Schedule appointments with office staff and attorneys
-Greet clients
-Occasionally take client payments in-office and over-the-phone
-Occasionally make runs to the courthouse, post office, and to various offices
-Assist other staff members, as needed
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
