Legal Practice Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Legal Assistant to support our legal team in various practice areas. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills and a solid understanding of legal terminology and procedures. This role involves managing case files, conducting legal research, and providing executive administrative support to attorneys. The successful candidate will be proactive, adaptable, and able to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced law office environment.

Duties

  • Assist attorneys with case preparation, including document review and legal drafting.
  • Conduct legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw.
  • Manage case files and maintain organized document management systems.
  • Prepare and file legal documents in compliance with court requirements.
  • Support various practice areas, including estate planning, family law, immigration law, landlord-tenant law, environmental law, patent law, securities law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, tribal law & regulations, UCC law, and litigation.
  • Perform data entry and maintain accurate records for client cases.
  • Conduct interviews with clients to gather necessary information for cases.
  • Provide clerical support such as transcription, proofreading, and filing.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients and other stakeholders via phone etiquette.
  • Assist in project management tasks to ensure timely completion of legal projects.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar role is preferred; paralegal experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in document management systems (iManage) and legal software (PCLaw).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent writing skills for drafting correspondence and legal documents.
  • Familiarity with litigation processes and case management practices.
  • Ability to conduct thorough research and analyze legal information effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail for proofreading documents and ensuring accuracy.
  • Prior experience in an administrative capacity within a law office setting is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of various areas of law including but not limited to estate planning, family law, immigration law, landlord-tenant law, environmental law, patent law, securities law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, tribal regulations is desirable. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
