Job Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Secretary to support our legal team. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic legal environment, providing essential support to attorneys while ensuring efficient office operations for Cedar County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain legal documents, files, and case files using document management systems such as Karpel and Case.Net
- Draft, review, and proofread legal documents including pleadings, correspondence, and reports with precision.
- Assist the Prosecuting attorneys with case management tasks including data entry, document review, and filing.
- Prepare for court proceedings by organizing exhibits, coordinating schedules, and managing deadlines.
- Transcribe dictations and notes accurately to ensure clear communication within the legal team.
- Provide administrative support by managing calendars, scheduling interviews or meetings, and handling phone etiquette professionally.
- Support client interactions through interviewing clients or witnesses as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance with legal standards.
Skills
- Knowledge with word, excel and powerpoint.
- Writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence.
- Exceptional proofreading and transcription abilities to ensure accuracy in all documentation.
- Experience with legal administrative tasks including filing, data entry, document review, and case management.
- Effective organizational skills to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Phone etiquette combined with professional communication skills.
