Legal Secretary

<Job Summary>
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Secretary to join our dynamic legal team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive administrative and clerical support to attorneys across various practice areas, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the law office. Your expertise in legal research, document management, and case coordination will help facilitate successful legal proceedings and client interactions. <Duties>

  • Manage and organize legal documents using document management systems such as iManage and PCLaw, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Conduct thorough legal research utilizing Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other research tools to support case preparation across diverse practice areas including estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, family law, securities law, tribal law & regulations, patent law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, and more.
  • Draft, proofread, and review legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, discovery materials, correspondence, and reports with precision and clarity.
  • Coordinate case files by filing documents appropriately and maintaining meticulous records for easy retrieval during litigation or transactional processes.
  • Provide executive administrative support by managing calendars, scheduling appointments, coordinating meetings with clients or court appearances, and handling phone etiquette professionally.
  • Assist attorneys with client interviews by preparing necessary documentation and taking detailed notes to facilitate effective communication.
  • Perform data entry tasks accurately within case management systems like Law Office or other specialized software to ensure all case information is current and complete.

<Qualifications>

  • Proven experience as a Legal Secretary or in a similar legal administrative role within a law office setting.
  • Strong knowledge of legal practice areas such as estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, family law, securities law, tribal law & regulations, patent law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, landlord-tenant law, UCC law (Uniform Commercial Code), among others.
  • Proficiency with legal research tools including Westlaw and LexisNexis; familiarity with document management systems like iManage or similar platforms.
  • Experience with legal case management software such as PCLaw or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Exceptional writing skills for drafting correspondence and legal documents; strong proofreading and transcription abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform legal research accurately and efficiently; experience reviewing documents for relevance and completeness.
  • Strong clerical skills including filing, data entry, phone etiquette, and general administrative support.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
