Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Legal Secretary or Paralegal to join our dedicated legal team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to be apart of a legal defense practice. The ideal candidate will be energized by managing complex legal tasks, conducting thorough research, and providing exceptional administrative support to attorneys and clients alike. This position is vital in ensuring the smooth operation of our law office and delivering top-tier legal services. Pay is dependent on experience.
Legal Secretary/Paralegal Duties
- Prepare and review legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, briefs, and correspondence with precision and attention to detail.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research using Westlaw and other case management systems to support ongoing cases across various practice areas.
- Manage legal case files through document management systems like eCourts and PACER, ensuring all records are accurate, organized, and easily accessible.
- Assist attorneys with client interviews and document review processes to gather pertinent information efficiently.
- Support project management initiatives by coordinating deadlines, tracking case progress, and maintaining schedules.
- Draft legal documents and memorandums with clarity and professionalism while proofreading all documents for accuracy.
- Handle administrative tasks including data entry, filing, phone etiquette, scheduling appointments, and managing correspondence to ensure seamless office operations.
- Transcribe dictations and prepare court filings in accordance with jurisdictional requirements.
- Support defense efforts through document review, discovery processes, and organizing evidence for trial preparation.
Qualifications
- No experience required; however, previous legal experience is preferred.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and quantitative productivity standards.
- Proficiency in computer skills/Comfortable with using computer software such as Word and/or Excel.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet deadlines without sacrificing accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; professional language, client presence, and empathy.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional writing skills for drafting legal documents and correspondence clearly and professionally.
- Skilled in proofreading and transcription to ensure error-free documentation.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with clients effectively while maintaining confidentiality.
- Proficiency in document review techniques and familiarity with contracts and legal case management systems.
- Demonstrated ability to handle clerical tasks such as data entry, filing systems management, phone etiquette adherence, and administrative support functions efficiently. Pay: From $20.00 per hour
