LEGAL SECRETARY JOB POSITION
Legal Secretary is need for a busy single attorney law office located in Burgaw, North Carolina. The Legal Secretary will be responsible for supporting the attorney by performing a variety of administrative duties, including drafting of legal documents, answering telephones and emails, and communicating with clients. If you are someone who has a strong work ethic, is detail oriented and has previous work experience in a law office, you are strongly encouraged to apply for this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Drafting and preparing legal documents under the direction of the attorney
· Proofreading all work for content and errors
· Preparing and maintaining client files in both electronic and paper filing systems
· Open new client files and perform conflict checks
· Close client files and prepare them for electronic scanning and file storage
· Properly file legal documents with the Courts and mailing copies to appropriate parties
· Schedule client appointments and court hearings
· Answer telephone calls and communicate with all clients with professionalism, respectfulness, and tact
· Meet with walk-in clients
· Handle client money for client trust accounts
· Prompt and regular attendance for work
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
· Minimum of 2 years legal experience preferred
· Minimum of 5 years office experience
· High School diploma required
· Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and Access)
· Knowledge of Tabs 3, Practice Master and SoftPro software systems preferred
· Strong organizational and time management skills, the ability to prioritize workload, anticipate needs are essential and work independently
· Strong proofreading skills and understanding of correct grammar, spelling and punctuation
· Outstanding written and verbal skills
· Ability to be professional with office staff, clients and attorneys
· Excellent Customer Service skills, ability to professionally speak with clients, attorneys and court personnel
· Strong math and accounting skills
· Trustworthy to handle client money
· Notary Public, preferred
· Regular and predictable office attendance
Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
