Legal Services Coordinator Position
Position Summary: The Legal Services Coordinator provides direct support for CDCVAS’s legal clinics, with a priority focus on family law. This role combines client services responsibilities with a strong emphasis on paralegal/legal assistant and case management skills. The Legal Services Coordinator ensures clinics run smoothly by preparing cases, supporting volunteer and staff attorneys, and helping clients navigate the civil legal system.
This position is also part of the team that provides front desk coverage during public office hours, greeting clients and community members, and supporting the overall daily operations of the office.
Primary duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
Clinic Coordination & Attorney Support
· Schedule, confirm, and prepare for weekly family law clinics and consultations.
· Coordinate with staff attorneys, volunteer attorneys, interpreters, and clients to ensure smooth clinic operations.
· Review and organize client documents, draft pleadings and forms under attorney supervision, and identify missing information for case preparation.
· Support general law clinics as needed.
Client Services & Case Management
· Greet clients, answer phones, and respond to inquiries with professionalism and compassion.
· Conduct client intakes and interviews, collect and critically review case information.
· Track client outcomes and update case notes in a thorough and timely manner.
· Serve as a liaison between clients and attorneys to ensure communication and follow-up.
Paralegal/Legal Assistant & Drafting Support
· Draft pleadings, forms, and correspondence under attorney supervision.
· Maintain accurate and confidential client files.
· Provide legal research or document preparation as requested.
Administrative & Team Support
· Provide front desk coverage during public office hours (Monday–Thursday, 10am–12pm and 1pm–4pm) as part of the coverage team.
· Maintain office organization, supplies, and clinic readiness.
· Assist with volunteer coordination, recognition, and appreciation efforts.
· Participate in special events, trainings, and fundraisers, including the annual Justice Gala.
Required Qualifications
· Strong organizational and case management skills; ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
· High attention to detail and accuracy; strong critical-thinking skills.
· Tech savvy and a quick learner with proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills; customer service mindset.
· Compassionate, dependable, and committed to equity and inclusion.
· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently with initiative.
· Ability to maintain client confidentiality and comply with legal ethics.
Preferred Qualifications
· Bilingual in English and Spanish.
· Experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or similar legal support role.
· Familiarity with family law and local court procedures.
· Drafting and document-preparation experience.
· Experience working with people experiencing poverty, trauma, or barriers to justice.
· Confident and able to serve as an enthusiastic ambassador for the organization at public events
Position Details
· Reports to: Deputy Director
· Schedule: Full-time
· Compensation: Based on experience; elevated pay range considered for candidates with paralegal or significant legal experience $21-$25/hour
· Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, up to 3% IRA match, generous PTO and holidays
· Bilingual bonus: $2,080/annually, provided monthly
