Job Description:

As an experienced member of the Legal Resource Center (LRC), the Legal Support Specialist II (LSS II) provides advanced administrative and legal support to attorneys in Washington and firm wide. The LS II is a vital contributor to our legal teams. The LSS II works collaboratively and cooperatively with others in a team environment to deliver the highest level of service to internal and external clients.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, detail-oriented, punctual and will have excellent organization, communication and computer skills. Opportunity will exist to mentor our team members in the Legal Support Specialist I role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare
    legal documents, memoranda and correspondence from draft or dictated text.
  • Create, edit, format and proofread documents, spreadsheets, and presentations with the highest level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Draft clear, concise notices that support case progress and client communication.
  • Generate pleadings and briefs with the ability to perform extensive formatting, styling and editing of documents using advanced features of Word including Tables of Contents, Tables of Authorities, Cross-referencing, and Track Changes.
  • Anticipate the needs of assigned attorneys to promote timekeeper efficiencies (i.e., drafts correspondence, prepares shell pleading and discovery documents in advance).
  • Coordinate seamless arrangements for meetings, depositions, mediations, and attorney travel to keep schedules running smoothly.
  • Design and edit engaging PowerPoint presentations, charts, and graphs that communicate complex ideas effectively.
  • Convert and perfect PDF files into clean, formatted Word documents for easy use and distribution.
  • Transmit critical legal documents to clients, witnesses, and court officials with speed and accuracy.
  • Assist in managing client financial records and reporting requirements with precision and confidentiality.
  • Calendar essential deadlines and milestones to ensure cases stay on track and compliant.
  • Submit and maintain Bar and Court Admissions with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Track attorney Continuing Legal Education to support ongoing professional development.
  • Provide dependable support and coverage for the Legal Resource Center team, ensuring smooth operations.
  • Perform advanced clerical tasks that contribute to the success of the legal team and client satisfaction.

Job Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree preferred; Bachelor’s degree is a plus.
  • Min 4 years’ experience as a litigation legal assistant, strongly preferred.
  • Build strong connections with excellent interpersonal skills that foster trust and collaboration.
  • Stay composed under pressure, demonstrating tact and professionalism in challenging situations.
  • Show initiative and leadership by managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with sound judgment and decision-making.

  • Leverage advanced technical expertise in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and specialized law firm software to deliver exceptional results.
  • Apply creative problem-solving with basic graphic and image manipulation skills for polished presentations. including resizing, copying, and pasting functions.
  • Communicate with clarity and confidence, both orally and in writing, to ensure accuracy and impact.
  • Mentor and inspire others, sharing knowledge and fostering team growth.
  • Demonstrate precision with accurate typing and meticulous proofreading for error-free deliverables.
  • Organize effectively, keeping projects and priorities on track.
  • Deliver outstanding client service, thriving in a collaborative team environment.
  • Work independently with confidence, while contributing meaningfully to team success.
  • Adapt to physical activity requirements, ensuring flexibility and readiness for varied tasks.
Compensation:
In compliance with the Wage Transparency Act, we disclose that the salary range for this position in Washington, DC is $75,000 - $95,000 annually. Compensation offered will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
