Legal Translator

Job Summary:

Responsible for overseeing the operations of legal translations at newly established government organization in Abu Dhabi within educational sector, including providing specialized legal translation services for documents and materials of a legal nature, ensuring accuracy and correctness of the translation in accordance with local and international legal systems, while adhering to the approved organization’s and linguistics’ standards.


Tasks and Responsibilities:

The position covers translation services for internal needs as well as for external when required.


Legal Translation:

  • Translate contracts, agreements, and memoranda of understanding related to the university or organization institution.
  • Translate internal policies, regulations, organization rules, and related legislation.
  • Translate legal documents concerning international students and faculty members (such as certifications, appointments, equivalencies, residency permits, etc.).

Review and Proofreading:

  • Review and proofread legal translations to ensure linguistic and legal accuracy.
  • Edit legal documents prepared in both Arabic and English.

Coordination with Legal and the Organization Entities:

  • Work with the institution’s legal department to ensure the legal soundness of translated texts.
  • Collaborate with the organization and administrative departments to translate documents related to research projects or international partnerships.

Compliance and Confidentiality:

  • Maintain the highest levels of confidentiality when handling sensitive legal documents.
  • Ensure translations comply with international and local legal standards.

Technical and Administrative Support:

  • Provide linguistic support during international legal or organization’s meetings (when needed).
  • Contribute to the preparation of the institution’s approved legal terminology guide.


Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Translation, English Language, or Law (postgraduate studies preferred).
  • Certified legal translator accreditation from an official authority (e.g., Ministry of Justice).
  • Full proficiency in both Arabic and English, with advanced knowledge of legal terminology.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in legal translation, preferably in an educational environment.
