Leon County Humane Society, Dog Program Assistant

LCHS is seeking a passionate and reliable Dog Program Assistant to support daily operations within our dog program. This role is essential to maintaining the health and well-being of dogs in our care while supporting our Dog Program Coordinator. LCHS accepts approximately 1,000 animals annually, and more than half of these are dogs. This position offers the opportunity to gain rewarding hands-on experience within the animal welfare and rescue field, alongside a strong team of animal advocates.

Responsibilities:
Assist with the daily care of LCHS foster dogs while on site to include feeding, cleaning, walking, and enrichment.
Data entry and record keeping
Regular communication with LCHS staff and dog fosters
Provide support at dog adoption events
Capture photos of on-site foster dogs
Animal transport required. Applicants must provide a valid driver's license.

Qualifications:
Valid driver's license
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as walking large dogs, bending, and cleaning.
Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with foster families, vet partners, and community members.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Passion for animal welfare and commitment to improving the lives of animals in need. This position requires dedication, compassion, and a proactive approach to fostering relationships within the community while ensuring the highest standards of care for our furry friends.

Pay: From $17.50 per hour
