Job Summary: Diesel Mechanic III
The Diesel Mechanic III will perform repair work and maintenance for trucks (Internationals), and other motor vehicles, and coordinate all repair work in the shop amongst the other technician(s) and mechanic(s). Knowledge of Diagnostic/Repair software such as Service Ranger, DLB, OnCommand, etc is a MUST. Must have knowledge of both automatic (Eaton advantage and Endurant) AND manual transmissions are required.

Duties/Responsibilities:
· Must be able to perform all duties assigned to both Diesel Mechanic I and II as a pre-requisite (see Diesel Mechanic I and II job descriptions for full list of pre-requisite responsibilities).
· Collects and analyzes information vehicle history, problem with the vehicle, and/or known maintenance or repairs required.
· Conducts post-repair testing and diagnostics.
· Examines critical parts and systems using standard checklists.
· Identifies mechanical problems visually and/or with computer diagnostic equipment.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
· Performs routine and preventive maintenance including oil changes and tune-ups.
· Performs tests on specific parts and systems to determine whether they are operating properly.
· Plans repairs and timetables for completion; provides time and cost estimates for repairs, maintenance, and replacements
· Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems such brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts on semi-trucks, and other company vehicles
· Test drives vehicle to confirm proper operation, that repairs have been made properly, and that problems have been resolved.
· Provides mentorship and collaborative teamwork to other mechanic and technicians
· Assists in the coordinating of tasks and activities of company’s fleet auto repair shop, working on gas- and diesel-powered vehicles, trucks, and heavy equipment.
· Assists with shop inventory, orders parts, shop supplies, and equipment.
· Attend required meetings
· Ensures all applicable safety standards and regulations are followed in facility.
· Monitor and report on equipment repair and maintenance reports as requested by CEO/Owner
· Utilizes database of maintenance and repair records for company vehicles and equipment.
· Reports to Operations Manager and Shop Manager providing support to operations teams ensuring fleet availability to meet demands of operations.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Extensive knowledge of all aspects of vehicle maintenance and repair, especially on International Semi-Trucks – or similar
· Proficient with related computer diagnostic equipment and software.
· Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
· Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues.
· Ability to read service and repair manuals.
· Ability to read work orders.
· Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.
· Ability to use hand powered tools
· Excellent mechanical skills
· Excellent attention to detail
· Ability, desire, and responsible for adhering to safe work practice and procedures.
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Master Technician certification from an industry recognized and/or accredited mechanic trade school/institution
· Must have and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License
· Must maintain a clean MVR and valid driver’s license (any tickets in company or personal vehicles must be reported immediately).
· Five years of related experience required.
Physical Requirements:
· Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
· Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
· Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
· Must have enough vision to inspect repair work.
· May be exposed to and able to drive/safely operate in extreme seasonal weather
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour
