We began with 3 locations in 2021 with the goal of being the difference in the equipment rental industry by doing everything differently. We now have over 36 locations, and we are adding a Level 4 Diesel Mechanic to our team at the Flowood, MS Branch!

Overview

Empower Rental Group is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Level 4 Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic shop maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of complex issues, heavy-duty diesel equipment and fleet, including company vehicles. Your expertise will ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability of our fleet and machinery. This position offers an exciting opportunity for experienced mechanics who thrive in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about heavy equipment operation and repair.

Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, brakes, and electrical systems across various heavy construction equipment and fleet.
• Diagnose complex issues with heavy equipment powertrain, and hydraulic and electrical systems using a computer analyzer and traditional troubleshooting methods.
• Completes complex repairs to the fleet.
• Completes inspections.
• Completes repairs on company vehicles.
• Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire service, alignment, and air brake inspections to prevent future issues.
• Assists customers with loading and unloading fleet orders.
• Makes notes on rental tags.
• Assists customers with questions/customer service as applicable.
• Assists other mechanics with tasks such as lifting or moving heavy objects.
• Cleans up the yard and shop area.
• May perform repairs on the small fleet.
• Use schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical systems accurately.
• Operate heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers safely and efficiently during repair or testing procedures.
• Assists in driving a continuous improvement strategy within the business to result in ongoing incremental gains in quality and efficiency.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Over 5 years of experience
• A Valid Driver’s License and the Ability to Drive Company Vehicles per Insurance Requirements may be required on a case-by-case basis, depending on branch needs.
• Proven experience as a diesel mechanic with construction or equipment rental experience preferred.
• Provide exceptional customer service for both internal and external customers by communicating repair findings clearly and offering maintenance recommendations to clients or team members.
• Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment operation, diagnostics, and vehicle systems repair.
• Exhibits average computer skills.
• Completes rental equipment preparation by delivery date.
• Maintains a ready line.
• Achieves quality standards.
• Must have own basic tools.
• Proficiency in using power tools, hand tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic software.
• Capable of performing heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during repairs.
• Excellent problem-solving skills combined with strong communication abilities to work effectively with team members or clients.
