Shaheed Haroon Academy – Peshawar

Shaheed Haroon Academy is seeking a dedicated and organized Librarian to manage our academic resources and foster a vibrant learning environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic management of our collection, providing high-level research support to students, and promoting literacy through innovative programming.

Key Responsibilities

• Collection Management & Development: Oversee the acquisition, cataloging, and classification of all materials (print, digital, and audiovisual). Perform regular collection audits to ensure materials are culturally appropriate and relevant to the curriculum.
• Information & Reference Services: Provide expert guidance to students and faculty on research methodologies, database navigation, and the effective use of library catalogs.
• Literacy & Education: Develop and lead workshops on information literacy and research skills. Organize cultural and educational programs, including book clubs, author talks, and exhibitions.
• Circulation & Administration: Manage the lending and return process, maintain accurate records, and oversee library budgeting and reporting.
• Digital Integration: Maintain the library’s online catalog and digital resources, providing technical assistance to users as needed.
• Preservation: Implement best practices for the conservation of fragile or valuable institutional materials.
• Collaboration: Work closely with faculty to align library resources with educational goals and research activities.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Education: A degree in Library Science or a related field is mandatory.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a library setting.
• Professionalism: Punctuality is a core requirement and a non-negotiable quality for this role.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of cataloging systems, classification methods, and digital database management.
• Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills with a customer-service-oriented approach and the patience to work effectively with students.
• Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a dynamic, evolving academic environment.
• Languages: Fluency in English, Urdu, and Pashto is required. Proficiency in Farsi and French language is a significant advantage.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Rs20,000.00 - Rs30,000.00 per month
