Full-Time, 35 hours per week

STARTING RATE:

$32.59/hour (Contract currently in negotiation)


POSITION RANGE:

$32.59 - $37.44/hour


POSITION OVERVIEW & REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

The Librarian I is responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating all activities associated with Youth Services, which serves patrons from birth through twelfth grade. This position initiates, develops, and implements programming relevant to the patron group.

Public service desk experience, including demonstrated digital literacy, and technological proficiency, for all ages, is preferred. Proven success in interfacing with internal and external stakeholders to enhance services is preferred. The ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, is essential.

The skills and knowledge required would generally be acquired with a Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years’ experience or Master's Degree in Library Science from a school accredited by American Library Association (ALA). Demonstrated ability with technology including, but not limited to, computers, software, library databases, and new, emerging technologies. Excellent customer service and effective communication skills (oral and written) are essential.

Preferred qualifications include prior programming experience, experience leading children’s story time programs, and bilingual abilities are a plus. A Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS) is also preferred.
