Librarian I (Research)

Provides research services to library members and the public as part of a team; instructs members in the use of traditional/electronic reference sources and online public access catalog. Participates in collection maintenance and development; maintains research and non-fiction collections. Plans and implements adult classes/activities; provides readers’ advisory services; assists with conducting internet/other computer classes to the public.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires qualified candidates to possess the following:

• A Master’s Degree in Library Science (MLS) accredited by the American Library Association (ALA).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred qualifications include:

• Experience working in a public/academic library research section,
• Experience providing instructions on downloading media,
• Experience presenting activities/classes/programs/instructions to groups,
• Experience using computer/internet/data-based resources,
• Experience providing readers’ advisory services,
• Experience with collection maintenance/development, and
• Bi/trilingual (English/Spanish/Creole).
