The purpose of the class is to supervise the programming functions and assist in the management of personnel, resources, and the collection of a branch library. The job works independently, under limited supervision, and participates on system-wide planning teams. Directly supervises programming staff in a branch library.
Minimum Requirements

Master's degree in Library Science and a Professional Librarian certificate.

Two (2) years of professional library experience or closely related experience.

One (1) year of supervisory experience.

A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.

Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion

Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
Additional Requirements-
May require working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek to include evenings and weekends.

The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
