Librarian III (Assistant Branch Manager/Head Of Research)

Administers and oversees the operation of a major section in a branch library. Interprets and explains library policies/procedures to the public and staff; creates and approves classes and activities for adults; provides research services to members; resolves member complaints/problems; monitors materials budget/selection; recommends the hiring, promotion, and termination of staff; trains and directs professional/paraprofessional library system personnel; participates in long-range planning and committee work.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires qualified applicants to possess the following:

• A Master’s Degree in Library Science (MLS) accredited by the American Library Association (ALA); minimum of two (2) years of professional library experience, including one (1) year of supervisory responsibilities.

PREFERENCE QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred qualifications include:

• Experience conducting oral presentations/speaking in public,
• Experience using online/electronic library resources, and
• Bi/trilingual (English/Spanish/Creole).
