Job Announcement

The City of Chandler Community Services Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Library Administrator – Basha Library. The position is scheduled to work 40 hours per week, including evenings and weekends on a rotational basis with branch staff.

Current City of Chandler employees may only hold one position and are not eligible for additional part-time or secondary positions within the City of Chandler.

Library

Chandler Public Library inspires intellectual discovery, creative entertainment, and lifelong learning through robust information resources that connect communities to a world of knowledge and new ideas. As a system of four libraries and a bookmobile in all geographic areas of the community and a collection of nearly 500,000 books, DVDs, and a wide variety of digital resources, we bring people, information, and ideas together to read, learn, connect, and succeed. Our libraries continuously reflect on patrons' current and emerging needs and choose to advance literacy and champion inclusive learning experiences for all people by fostering accessibility and embracing new technology.

Who We Are Looking For

Our new team member will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are looking for someone to collaboratively engage as a critical member of the library leadership team, supervise and oversee daily library branch operations, coordinate assigned library services and ensures the provision of excellent services to library patrons.

  • A bachelor's degree in library science or related Degree; and
  • 5 years of general library experience with 1 year of supervisory experience; and
  • A valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in library science or related Degree
  • 3 years of department/branch leadership experience in a public library
  • Experience in youth, teen and adult library programming or education

This is a regular full-time position, subject to a 6-month probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months should another position become available.

The City of Chandler will conduct a pre-employment a driving record check, and a reference check as a condition of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results.
