Job Overview
The Frankford Public Library is seeking a dependable and service-oriented Library Assistant to support daily operations and provide high-quality service to the public. This role focuses on assisting patrons, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring the library remains an organized, welcoming, and accessible community resource.
Responsibilities
- Provide courteous and efficient customer service to patrons in person, by phone, and online
- Assist patrons with locating materials, using library resources, and accessing technology
- Issue and update library cards; explain account details, policies, and procedures
- Perform circulation tasks, including checking materials in and out and processing overdue items
- Maintain accurate shelving and organization through regular shelving and shelf reading
- Respond to or route patron inquiries to appropriate staff as needed
- Maintain organized records, files, and documentation
- Support database accuracy and assist with inventory and material tracking
- Provide basic technical assistance with computers, printers, and library software
- Complete routine clerical duties such as filing, copying, and data entry
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Proficiency with computers, data entry, and Microsoft Office or similar systems
- Familiarity with library systems (ILS) and basic troubleshooting is preferred
- Ability to assist patrons with research and information needs
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Pay: From $17.29 per hour
Education:
- High school or equivalent (Required)

- Library services: 1 year (Preferred)
