Library Assistant – Adult Services

The Minerva Public Library is a welcoming space where people of all ages come to learn, connect, and explore. We’re looking for someone who shares that commitment to service and wants to be part of a team that supports our community in meaningful, everyday ways.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in customer service, libraries, or public-facing roles.

What You’ll Do

• Assist patrons with reference questions, reader’s advisory, and technology help
• Provide instruction on library databases, digital resources, and public computers
• Perform circulation services and resolve patron account issues
• Assist with adult programming and community events
• Maintain collections, shelving, and displays
• Serve as an occasional keyholder and assist with opening/closing

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the library for extended periods
• Ability to push carts and handle library materials
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds

What We’re Looking For

• High school diploma required; associate’s degree preferred
• Prior customer service experience required
• Prior library experience or public service experience preferred
• Strong multitasking and communication skills
• Comfort with technology, databases, and digital literacy support

Schedule & Pay

• Part-time (20–29 hours/week)
• Evenings and Saturdays required

Pay: From $12.25 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 29.0 per week
