Under supervision, performs a wide range of the most difficult duties in a specialized section of the library; independently acts as a lead worker in the absence of a Librarian; provides occasional facility oversight; and performs related work as required.This is an Open Competitive/Countywide Promotional recruitment being conducted to fill a current full-time vacancy in the Washoe County Library System. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Two years of full-time paraprofessional library experience; OR an equivalent combination of related training and experience. An associate degree in any discipline from an accredited college or university may substitute for half of the required experience.License Or CertificateA valid driver’s license may be required at the time of appointment and if required, must be maintained for continued employment in this classification.The Ideal Candidate Will HaveAbility to provide support in the creation, maintenance, and coordination of promotional and communication items of various formats, including but not limited to library collateral, newsletters, social media, and websites.Strong Youth Services skills to include a focus on programming, readers advisory, and early literacy.Excellent operational leadership skills for staff and event scheduling, volunteer oversight, and staff training.Experience with library outreach and programming, particularly STEAM programming.Experience creating promotional materials and coordinating promotional activities to advance program objectives.Ability to demonstrate respectful engagement with adults with histories of chronic homelessness, substance use and mental illness.High level of attention to detail, specifically as it relates to incident reports and systemwide communication.Ability to effectively oversee a busy service desk.Bilingual skills (English/Spanish)

Once the recruitment has closed, if there are less than 20 qualified candidates, the exam will be waived and all qualifying candidates will be placed on an unranked eligible list which will be referred to the hiring department. If the exam is scheduled to move forward and less than 20 candidates take the exam as determined by the Department of Human Resources, the exam will be waived. Only those candidates who took the exam or have a transfer score will be placed on an unranked eligible list which will be referred to the hiring department.3. After the exam is completed, you will receive an additional email notifying you of the results. If you pass the examination, you will receive your score and rank.
