Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, the Library Associate supports the daily operations of the school library/media center and assists students and staff in accessing resources. The Library Associate helps maintain an organized, welcoming environment that promotes literacy, research skills, and a love of reading. This position collaborates with teachers and students to support instructional goals while ensuring materials and technology are accessible, organized, and effectively managed.
Essential Functions

Assists students and staff in locating and utilizing library materials and resources.

Maintains an organized and welcoming library environment that supports learning and literacy.

Checks library materials in and out and maintains accurate circulation records.

Shelves, organizes, and inventories books and other instructional materials.

Supports students with research, reading, and appropriate use of technology.

Promotes a positive, respectful, and quiet environment conducive to study and learning.

Assists with library displays, reading promotions, and special programs to encourage student engagement.

Collaborates with teachers and staff to support classroom instruction and student learning.

Monitors student behavior in accordance with school expectations and district policies.

Assists with maintaining and organizing digital and physical resources.
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
Equipment Used
Standard classroom and office technology, including computers, printers, copiers, phones, and library management systems.
Library/media resources including books, periodicals, digital resources, and instructional materials.

Physical and Mental Demands / Work Environment
Work is performed in a school library/media center environment with frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting of books and materials.
Requires the ability to move and organize library resources and supervise students in a structured setting.
Must meet physical and sensory requirements as outlined in the district's summary of essential job duties.
Qualifications Profile
Education: High school diploma required.
Experience: Experience working with children required; previous experience in a school or library setting preferred.
