Title/Classification: Library Associate – Makerspace
Reports to: Head of Adult Services
Minimum Pay Rate: $22.00 per hour
Schedule: 30 hours per week, including evenings and alternating Saturdays
Position Summary: The Library Associate - Makerspace coordinates and manages the staff and day-to-day operations of the library’s Makerspace.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a STEM field; two years of library experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience; graphic design training and/or experience. Experience providing instruction to audiences on creative activities, or visual/digital arts, including programming for different age groups. Two years’ experience in a supervisory position. Current knowledge of new and emerging Makerspace equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities

Supervises Library staff in the Makerspace, ensuring that services provided meet the community’s interests and needs

Plans and implements techniques for increasing access, program participation, and use of equipment

Provides public instruction and staff training on Makerspace equipment

Troubleshoots issues with Makerspace equipment

Develops, provides, and evaluates Makerspace programs

Collects data and provides statistical reports on Makerspace usage and recommends changes where necessary

Takes part in developing, documenting, and implementing long- and short-term goals for the Makerspace

Assesses Makerspace services in relation to community needs and interests, makes recommendations based on collected data

Schedules appointments for patrons to use the Makerspace using the Library's scheduling software

Manages the Makerspace store of equipment and supplies, keeping track of inventory and payments

Increases knowledge and skill of Makerspace equipment; researches Makerspace libraries for new and upcoming technology trends
